Summary
The friends and family of Lisa Nancarrow, as well as Lisa herself were truly overwhelmed with the generosity and support at the August 8th fundraising BBQ held in Riverside South. A total of $10,000 was raised at the BBQ, all of which will go directly to Lisa to help support her medical treatment in the US.
Families, neighbours and friends came out on a beautiful Saturday to take part in a fun-filled afternoon. Volunteers grilled up hamburgers and hot dogs and for the kids there were pony rides, a petting zoo, face painting, magic shows, a science show, sumo wrestling, lots of kid's crafts, and even a dunk tank! The Star Wars characters wandering the park for photo ops with the kids (and big kids) were a big hit too. City of Ottawa firefighters and police officers also dropped by letting the kids get a first-hand look at police cruisers and learn all about fire trucks, evening trying on some of the firefighters' equipment!
The friends and organizers would like to thank everyone who came out to join in the fun with a special thank you to all the sponsors and volunteers who donated they products, services or time to make the event truly successful!
